In 2011, Dr. Rudolph attended her first Junior League of Cincinnati meeting, where a critical question sparked a transformative journey: why was dental decay so prevalent among children? Her answer was direct and powerful: “These kids need to see the dentist.” This simple truth cut through the room, igniting a call to rethink how dental care could reach those who needed it most. That moment planted a seed, one that has grown into a movement culminating in the opening of the Delta Dental Center at Roberts Academy on May 30, 2025.
Cincinnati Public Schools had already embraced the community learning center model, transforming schools into hubs of support by integrating social, health, and other services for students and families. By 2011, mental health professionals, nurse practitioners, and even a vision center were part of this ecosystem. Yet, dental care remained an unsolved challenge—a gap that Dr. Rudolph was determined to bridge.

Over the next two years, Dr. Rudolph and Paul tirelessly collaborated with industry leaders nationwide. Their mission: to design a self-sustaining dental home within schools, independent of district funding. The result was a bold new model featuring at least three dental chairs, dedicated to serving underserved communities with dignity and care.
On September 23, 2013, the first Delta Dental Center opened at Oyler School, marking a turning point. Since then, this innovative model has spread, inspiring other dental partners and neighboring districts to adopt a similar approach. The Delta Dental Center at Roberts Academy, the sixth of its kind in Cincinnati Public Schools, stands as a testament to this enduring commitment.
These dental homes are more than clinics; they are an integral part of our community. In addition to the exceptional care Dr. Josh provides at Milford and Montgomery, he also practices at the dental home at the Academy of World Languages.. Through our coordinated care at Cincy Pediatric Dentistry, our doctors frequently treat children from these school-based centers in our operating room. Collectively, we contribute to a growing movement that advances in inspiring ways to ensure all children in our community have access to quality dental care.
